Default EJ civic with b18c swap V-TEC not working, help!

Sup, I got a ej civic with 95 gsr swap, running a P72 ecu. Its throwing codes 20, and 23. eld and knock sensor codes but I checked the knock sensor and the sensor itself seems to be there to just plug the whole no connector nearby. The car breaks up on long pulls on 4th gear. Any ideas on what it can be?

Stupid Question but have you checked the oil level? Do you have oil leaks? Vtec runs off of oil pressure so if your oil level is low or if you have a big leak it will not function properly. Good Luck!

The code for knock sensor points to VTEC not working because of a knock sensor malfunction, not low oil level, but you are correct about VTEC not working because of a low oil level/pressure condition. An eld code usually comes out because of wiring issues/another sensor malfunction, so maybe there is wiring issue somewhere. What year is your civic?

you answered your own question. the knock sensor needs to be hooked up or either bypassed. also stop doing any pulls because that breaking up is not good for your car at all. you can have a tuner bypass the knock sensor.

VTEC will still activate with a knock sensor code on OBD1, OBD2 is a different story

You are right, the V-tec is popping at 4500. Might be a wiring problem too, when i was doing the 4th gear pull, it sounded like it detenation .

X2..... If you are using a stock P72 ecu, it will try to read a signal from the knock sensor. Wire that up and the code should be gone.

Here you go: (Connector "D"....#3)
