vtec not engaging

Default vtec not engaging

i dont have a knock sensor hooked up in my car will this cause vtec not to engage?

check your oil. Low oil pressure will let it not kick in.

but a knock sensor wouldnt cause it not to kick in

as stated above.. oil pressure is key for vtec... check your oil level..

ok i will check it... i just cahnged the oil today... i havent had vtec ever since we did the swap

what kind of motor is in it??... did your previous motor have vtec??

If you are suppose to have a knock sensor and your ECU is looking for one and not finding one and you are throwing a Knock Sensor code then yes it will not engage.

no i had a d16y7... i put a z6 head on there an i have to install a knock senor... but im throwing a few other cels also like the IACV i think i need to reaplce that an then im throwing a emissions cell.... code 91 i believe

did you wire in vtec???? the y 7 isnt vtec... plus you can just clean out the IACV

yea it is wired up unless it isnt wired up correctly... to clean out the iacv what do i use to clean it like thottle body cleaner or what not

Your ecu may just be going into safe mode after the swap. I ran without 02temp sensor fora few months and then the ecu just went into safe mode and gave me a 7000 rev limit and no vtec. It also does that when it's cold until the motor warms up.
