ECU Swapping Question (Noob)
Bought a 1995 DX Sedan. Turns out it has a D16Z6 engine running on a P06 ECU.
I wanted to get a P28 ECU for more gains, What is the process in changing it? Do I just need the computer for basic plug and play or are there other parts needed to be able to take advantage of the more HP and V-Tec.
Thanks.

Re: ECU Swapping Question (PrimeElement)
just unplug the ecu and plug the other up. that simple. than check to see if the vtec solenoid and pressure switch are wired in. if not you will need to do that too.

Re: ECU Swapping Question
Thanks guys, the ECU has not been tampered with from what I can see so I don't think it's chipped.
V-tec solenoid and pressure switch are not currently wired in, they are just kinda just hanging there.
Check engine light doesnt light up but the tranny does feel a little sluggish changing gears (currently auto trans right now btw)
Side note: I currently have a pretty bad distributor and oil pan gasket leak, my local shop is asking for alot to fix it. I usually just keep adding a little oil here and there when it gets low but is it worth the money to get it fixed or will the prolonged leak give my engine problems down the line?

Re: ECU Swapping Question (PrimeElement)
distributor and oil pan gasket are very cheap..u probably just need the distributor seal or o rings...and it is not that hard to replace the oil pan gasket and distributor gasket..but it is rare to see a d16z6 with auto tranny..do u know whats the error code on CEL. if auto tranny does not shift smooth, maybe it is time to replace the tranny fluid

Re: ECU Swapping Question (crazyguy)
lol check engine light, wow I feel stupid.
But like I said, my check engine light is not on. Only lights up when I'm starting my engine like with every other car and then goes away.

Re: ECU Swapping Question (PrimeElement)
fix the speed sensor because if you are losing a lot of fluid that bcould be the reason the shifts are sluggish.
