distributor O-rings/ is a O-ring, a O-ring?
got my distributor off....to replace the O-ring b/c shes leaking and its smoking when the oil drips on the Hot engine. Anyhow...Its a bit late, the closest auto part store is a good 30 minute drive away- and I got the distributor off---the O-ring is absolutely shot (Then again its probably 15 years old at best) so it did perform an amazing job all things considering.
Anyhow, In my tool box I have O-rings from a hardware store (meant for plumbing) however I have an assortment..and have a perfect match---
So, I can't imagine there is a huge quality difference from auto grade rubber o-rings to plumbing grade rubber o-rings. I dont want to seem cheap, Im honestly asking if anyone knows if there is a difference. I'd honestly rather put the car back together if I can, I could care less about the couple dollars it'll save, I would love to save a trip and the time here. Id also much prefer not redo doing the o-ring in 3 days b/c this one turned to dust.
So anyhow, anyone know.
