diagnose this RPM problem please...
ok... stock car
when cruising in any gear, like the RPM would be @ 3k, the RPM needles starts to fluctuate from 3-5k and starts bouncing back and forth. The car idles normal, no check engine light and I dont think its losing battery power. so what can it be? help me out here.
could it be? grounds, TPS, tachometer????

Any difference when you have your lights on or ur turn signals in operation???
Your alt might be on its way out.... happened to me 3 weeks ago.... had the same symtoms but my tach and speedo would bounce off of zero to whereever it actually was.
If not then you have crossed wires or a bad ground like previously stated

does the actual rpms fluctuate between 3 and 5k or is it just the tach....if its just the tach could just be ur alt is goin bad or ur battery is going and cant hold the power given by the alternator...could also be not properly grounded or crossed wired as said before. is ur check engine light on?

youre right, its the whole tachometer that fluctuates, I just installed a new battery too. Im gonna check the grounds too. Oh no check engine lights and headlights seem to be ok.
