Default Del Sol: SOHC or DOHC?

Which of these engines would be easier to turbo? Note: this would most likely be a 1995 Honda Del Sol VTEC. Thanks a lot.

The del Sol VTEC is the DOHC. You could easily turbo either one though. I went the SOHC route on mine. The D16Z6 is a fun little motor, but I'm sure I'll eventually yank that thing out in favor of a B16 or B18.

Both are easy to turbo, but the SOHC is easier to do a "junkyard" turbo, IMO. If you're just going to buy a kit or piece a nice kit together, then go with the DOHC since you have more potential to make more power.

Fun stuff if you can make it last. I wasn't that lucky, at least not on my first attempt. If you want to know some details check out http://www.homemadeturbo.com

"junk yard turbo" is usually referred to a 'pieced together' turbo kit from other manufacter cars. Like the DSM turbo off of eclipses and talons, mainly. They pull off the turbo, down pipe, and the tiny intercooler for a 'budget' type turbo set up.

Go DOHC if you have the money and want to make serious power. Go SOHC if funds are limited, but you still want to whoop *** on N/A DOHC cars.

The advantage of the SOHC is price. If you blow the engine, it's not a big deal - go pick another one up for a few hundred bucks, they're a dime a dozen and can be found anywhere. Now if you blew a DOHC engine, that would be much more painful for the wallet . . .
