Default 94 Del Sol SOHC vtec...need help

My buddy is looking into buying a Del Sol. Its a SOHC vtec. Its got 93k on the motor/car and he is wondering what kind of power these things have and what type of times do they run in the 1/4 (Average times. I know its impossible to say exactly, im not a newb im on the integra/ type r forum all time. I just don't know that much about this car).

Any information you can provide will help out a lot.

Also, what kind of upsides do they have? Thanks guys

He has a Chevy Z24 and I am trying to get him into Imports he's wanted a vtec ever since he's been in my car so we found this one and its in his price range. thanks again guys

its about 125hp @6600 rpm, no torque.. or i mean 106 ft lb@5200 rpm. redline at 7200.. STOCK u'll probably run like a 16 hehe...u'll be lucky to hit a high 15. i think they're about 2400 lbs... not light at all

Alright ill send him in another direction then. Because he's Z24 lands high 15's at the track with just an intake. Ill have him look for a DOHC version or something else. Thanks for the info man

a sohc vtec is no power house. just do a swap and sell the single cam to a junkyard.

I think if he wants to put the money/time into it, he can make it pretty quick using that SOHC
But that's just my thoughts on it.

I agree, I had the SOHC (D16Z6) in my 1989 CRX, it was built by PYR and was able to out muscle GSR's in the 1/4... The Del Sol is unfortunately very heavy and with a stock D16Z6, at the wheels, you'd be lucky to have 115 hp... The DOHC Del Sol is the best one to get, makes it a lot easier for B series swaps...

But your 89 CRX is much lighter than what a GSR weighs.. so u must consider that too.
