My pop's is a manager for 20 years at a Body Repair shop that works on a variety of cars and I have seen them do a rear subframe swap due to accidents involving the car hittin a curb. They buy the new subframe from HONDA and they have chiesel off the old one and put back on the new one. They don't guess the measurements either. They have a special frame machince called the "Car-o-liner" that has its own PC with software of the exact measurements of the frame and subframes of every car. Old sub comes off new one goes back on with welding and coating to prevent rust. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Neat, CAROLINA, woot, go tarheels.

If I were you I'd also invest in a SPC rear toe link kit.
I'm sure your alignment specs could still be okay after the new subframe install, but I'd get the toe kit to be safe.
It not only makes the rear toe easier and more accurate to adjust, but it also has more adjustment than the factory shitty slider.
I've got them on my car and they are bad-***.

Re: (reza)
I may not be Jackson, but I can tell you that Comptech is the safest rear sway/tie combo you can go with. Because of the endlinks the comptech uses (w/ ball joints) its almost impossible for it to rip out your subframe.

a rear subframe for a '00 SI is $190 from the dealer. I checked for the SI, because I thought it might have reinforcements or something that the hatches dont have.

I've had that bar with the beaks kit on for about two years now. It saw quite a few track events. I was always sketched it would rip so I checked it atleast once a week. I havent tracked my car since August and I just noticed it was completely ripped last week. I cant pin point a single event that ripped the subframe. I think it just got weak and gave way. The side that isnt ripped has stress cracks from where it was going to rip. I still havent fixed the subframe. I have a few options of what I can do so when I figure it all out I might make a post.

Re: (Jackson)
looks like the result of work hardining.
based on this failure, in your opinion, do you think the comptech setup would suffer the same fate over time? It would appear that no matter how much bracing you put on our subframes it will ultimately fail because of the thinner metal.

Re: (tonyXcom)
I have no thoughts on the comptech one. It looks nice but I dont have one on my car so I cant really say much about it. The subframes on the stock civics are weak. The only way I can see around that is welding in reinforcements or replacing it with a ctr subframe which I might try and do.

Re: (Gump)
If it hasn't happened then don't worry about it. No need to replace your subframe if you don't have to. Like I said before, I've had that bar on my car for a long time and I beat the **** out of my car. The beaks kit did its job, the subframe didnt. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Re: (Gump)
hmm. that comptech sway combo is looking good right now, after seeing all these horrific pictures. how much is it again? and you dont need a beaks kit for it right?
