what ecu are you using?

anyone correct me if im wrong but i thought you can use the p28 ecu from an 92-95 ex or si which is obd1- since the cx is obdI. so the only thing you would have to do is wire for vtec

again correct me if im wrong

You need to run the remaining three wires for the O2 sensor. I'm not sure if they're in the 93 CX chassis harness or not so I'd run them directly to the ECU.

Get a P08 and run one wire O2 sensor.

I simply plugged in the Z6 harness and had NO trouble. The only wires I needed to add were for Vtec. The rest were already in the harness to the shock tower.

If you have a manual, look in the schematics section, and find out where the wires run. Then run some wires. If you can find a v-tec wiring harness, like say a 95 si harness, then it will already be run properly, and will be plug and play. I do know that the factory runs the wires wierd, cuz mine was telling me i had a bad o2, and it was my iat wire cut, so yeah.

I just did the swap in my 92, I was having the same problem but it was the gauge wiring i used. I had more resistence then it should have. so a little wiring promplem solved. The only reason for doing the wiring at all is cause i have a header and had to extend the wires. But vtec and knock and 4 wire o2 are already run in the shock tower harness. It was plug and play.

If you added wires to the o2 sensor make sure they are the same gauge, and that they have a good connection. No butt connectors. Use solder ( or however that is spelled) If the littlest change of current can throw it off. If that doesnt work try switching the 2 black wires you may have them crossed. If that doesnt work then you have a bad o2 sensor.

u don't need to go to the ecu ,, there already in the shock tower plug's, thats why i used a Z6 engine harness when i swaped one into my 93 Cx,then i just ran the vtec wires from the shock tower to the ecu

you said u put the same motor in and didnt have to wire for vtec..... is your car a 1993 honda civic cx bcuz if it is already run through the shock tower then the check engine light just means that my o2 sensor is just bad to begin with? im still confused- man im am stupid as the day is long lol

u talking to me? i didn't say it was wired for vtec... the 02 wire are already in the harness comming from the ecu to the shock tower, did u use a z5 engine harness?

I used a Z6 wiring harness and the only wires i ran were to extend my 02 cause it is down on the pipe. But i just wired it to the plug. I didnt have to wire anything to the ecu. Its a 92 cx. It might make a difference cause it was made in canada. Everything was wired in the shock tower already. It was just plug and play for me.

If the o2 sensor is bad it usaully throws a code. I would replace it and see what happens. If that doesnt work then you might have to run the wires directly to the ecu. But try replacing it first. If you dont want to spend the money then borrow a buddies or something. I think any honda 4 wire o2 sensor will work.
