d16y7 with a y8 im and ls tb HELP!!!!!
ok so here it is i recently purchased a 97 del sol with 67k on it. It has a never been touched y7 in until now. I read how you could put a y8 im and an ls tb to help flow more air. Now once i got the new im on i realized that the y8 im has an idle air control valve with a 2 prong plug on it while the plug i have on my car is a 3 prong. the car starts but has a cel on and it wont rev up very well. PLEASE help any suggestions would be great!

you can search to find out more about what do about this by searching and reading the articles on automatic to manual trans. swaps on that model car.
You need to make sure you get a auto. trans model Y8 IM. the manual won't work and use your stock TB since the IACV on the Y7 is under the TB. the LS TB compared to D16 TB is only a couple mm larger. your car idling is more important than the possible 1hp gain your stock Y7 would gain from the LS TB.

ok so if i use my y7 tb i should be ok? what do i do with the iacv in the y8 mani? also i used the air temp sensor in a hole that was in my cool air intake should that work?

yeah the inlet air temp is fine there. it wasn't there to begin with?
The IACV on the Y8 just leave it there so you don't have to worry about finding a automatic trans model. it will just be sealing up the hole. don't forget about your coolant lines either.

yeah you want to connect them to the working IACV. you might have get some hose connect it that way if the factory formed hoses don't cut it

yeah thats what i will do tomorrow i will get a couple of 90's to make nice bends out of the working iacv. Thanks oh also directly under the im is there a pcv valve? cuz thats what it looks like to me

yes the PCV valve connects to a small black box under the IM. the vacuum port for the hose is on of the top of the Im next to the port for the EVAP system (the selinoid on the fuel rail.) don't forget the small hose for the FPR and brake booster hose on teh back of the IM
