Default D16y7 ticking and burning oil.... New head?

I got this car with about 220k on it. Now it has 230k and its ticking from the valves. So the other day I took it to the shop and did a valve adjustment. Didn't help at all. And now I'm realizing its burning quite a bit of oil. Now should i just take a chance and buy another y7 head or just try and swap it out?
This is my daily so I'm just looking for some feedback.

It sounds more like your rings are gone. Do a compresson test and see what the numbers are and post them here..How often do you have to add oil?

Better question would have been, how much oil do have to add?

^yep. do a dry and then wet compression test. if the numbers in any one or more cylinder is significantly off, or the compression gets significantly higher after adding a bit of oil and retesting then it is most likely rings.

You can always rebuild the head as well, new valve seals, if that is case.

Do you see smoke at start up?

Does it smoke all the time?

Any oil staining on the back bump?
