Default d15b2 came in what trim level hatches?

there's a 1994 civic hatch for sale i'm looking at in florida. the owner said it has a d15b2 in it. he said his trim level might be a dx, but he doesn't know for sure what trim level his car is. it is my understanding that a eg hatch dx had a d15b7 in it, so what trim level would the d15b2 be in? so far from what i've read, that engine only was on european eg hatches, the dxi and lsi trim levels. so could his car be from europe, or did the d15b2 get put on some usdm eg hatches?

i'm asking this because on the automobile-catalog.com website the curb weight for a eg hatch dx model is 2178 lbs and the curb weight for a eg hatch dxi model is 2061 lbs. i like the weight of the dxi and if this is the car i'm looking at, i'll buy it. if it's just a dx then i will pass and search for a vx or cx.

Unless you're from Europe, the D15b2 comes from an OBD0 88-91 Civic.

more then likely OG motor blew and a d15b2 was cheapest to find and install. easiest way to tell is dxi are DPFI, not mpfi like 92+ civics in us

...unless an OBD0 D15b2 was converted from dpfi to mpfi.

That's what i was meant, that the d15b7 blew and they replaced with a d15b2 using d15b7 intake manifold, dizzy, and thermostat housing

A simple way to check is to see if they retained the fan switch on the back of the block indicating it's OBD0 (2 prong sensor in the pic)

It's unwise to believe everything people tell you, especially when they are selling something.

Assuming he isn't the first owner (safe assumption), it may have been the "original" motor when he bought the car, but it isn't a factory option in the States for the EJ1 chassis.
