D15b non vtec ecu question
Ive been searching and searching...
Ive seen that people say
p06 / p08 / p28
Im swapping a d15b into a 99-00 civic -- (daily driver) --
I know it has a knock sensor and I dont want to do the Radio Shack by-pass for the Knock sensor so I was thinking about doing the Obd2b to Obd1 step down harness with an ecu
basically the p28 but since it is a vtec ecu will it be too much for the d15b?
I know that the d15b is non vtec the vtec pin will not be there since the motor is non vtec and the harness but will the mapping of the p28 be too much for the d15b non vtec --
or should I go p06?
thank you

Re: D15b non vtec ecu question
d15b non-vtec? Is the head swapped or something? Or is it a D15Bx (x being some number like 1,2,5,7, etc.)
But if you say it is non-vtec, the P06 will work just fine if it is MPFI with a OBD2b-OBD1 conversion harness. You can always have that ECU chipped and tuned to run whatever non-vtec engine (or vtec engine with a vtec-able ecu).
What engine do you have now? D16y7 or D16y8? If its a Y7 you will not have a connector for the Knock sensor, if its a Y8 you will.

Re: D15b non vtec ecu question
There are at least 4 variants of D15B, dual vtec 3 stage, non vtec, performance vtec and carbureted.
Where I can't help you, is how many were obd1, obd2 and/or obd1 and obd2 availability.

And..... I missed the date of the original post thus the date of this really old thread that got bumped.
