His best bet would be to search, as this is a VERY common topic.
92-00 will bolt right up to a 92-00 motor
Everything before that is a cable transmission, but the swap can still be done with a cable>hydro conversion kit.
BTW, I'm running a 95 tranny on a 98 motor.

Well all Im wondering is I have a 90 crx dx D15, the tranny has gone bad and I have 2 trannys laying around a 91 CRX SI and a 95 JDM D15 vtec tranny, not sure if that one will bolt up though or the differences in the two

92-00 is hydro transmission
91 and below is cable.
A hydro would NOT work on a cable tranny car and vice versa. but any tranny from 92-00 will work with any 92-00 and any 88-91 will work with any 88-91.
u have a 90 crx, so u need the 91 crx si tranny.
