Default Cruise control problems (solved)

99 Honda civic LX auto, power steering removed

My cruise control has worked perfectly ever since I bought the car. Just recently I hit the SET button, and nothing. I checked the main switch, still nothing.

A while ago, I tried to... "tuck" the cruise control, but it kept rubbing the AC belt so I put the circular unit back where it goes. The vacuum lines are still kinda tucked though, to where if you face the engine bay from the front of the car, the lines are on the left of the shock part of the chassis. They're sitting on a bracket that was used for the harness. Literally just sitting.

I was just wondering if there was any common problems that civics run into with cruise control. I haven't looked at anything yet because I haven't really had a day off of work. Hopefully Thursday I can get a good look.

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you've fucked around with the lines because you tried to "tuck" the CC (), check if anything has blown holes in the vacuum lines.

You answered your own question as well as caused your own problems.

One day when I have more experience, I'm going to hide it the right way. And I'll be sure to do that later today.

Well, I found the problem, and fixed it but forgot to update. Turned out to be the clockspring, which I didn't suspect because the horn worked and SRS light wasn't on. But I replaced it, and hit the set button, not really expecting anything, but lo and behold, the cruise came on, woo!

Wow really?, did you try to tuck the steering wheel as well? Don't see how the clock spring could've fucked up if you didn't touch it.

Honestly, it broke when I turned full lock in a parking lot. I think it just got old and basically dry rotted up to that point, I guess that would be the term... But it snapped and my SRS came on a few seconds later. So I drove pike that for a bit, and replaced it with a good junkyard one. The new ones are expensive!
