Re: crankshaft pulley!!!!!!! need help quick (5thgen)
had someone hold the brakes, with the car in 5th gear. Then back and forth with the impact gun.
I'm going to go through the same problems two months from now. I believe you can use a 19mm socket, an extension, breaker bar, jack stand, and an extremely long pole. The end of the extension would rest on the jack stand so you can apply gobs of torque with the breaker bar and long pole. Oh.. And you'll need to keep the pulley from spinning. You might be able to take off the flywheel cover and stick a screwdriver in the flywheel to keep it from spinning. If you do a search on the internet for 'civic crankshaft pulley' you'll come across a web site where it shows pictures of how to stop the thing from spinning.

how do you loosen the bolt???
Clockwise or counter-clockwise.
Nowmally, to loosen a bolt it you spin it counter clockwise. But on some cars, (Like BMW) main bolts on pulleys spin clockwise to loosen.
Thanks!

when i took off my crank pully i went to honda and bought this tool that will hold the crank pully from spinning and still allow you to get at the bolt with and breaker bar.

You turn it Counter Clockwise.
I used a chain wrench to hold the pulley down from moving and an impact socket connected to a breaker bar.

impact wrenches work fine for me... 1/2 take a couple seconds usually...... 1" gun takes one hit of the gun and its off!
