Default Couple of questions regarding d16 rebuild.

First off, what is this port for? it's full of carbon.. on the intake side
Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

Secondly, the black box under the intake, what the hell is that? some sort of mega pcv thing?

Third - im swapping a d16z6 into my d15b7 del slow, i've removed the engine harness going to the relay box on the pass. side. is that all i need to remove wire wise?

do i need to swap computers to have vtec if i use the z6 harness in my delsol? or is the computer vtec ready, just not wired?

1. Your picture is too close to tell what port that is. Although on the z6 there is one fitting on the intake manifold for a coolant line. Shouldn't be full of carbon...

2. This is the breather box for the crank, yes.

3. No, the engine harness has 3 plugs on the passenger-side shock tower for the engine harness

4. Not all ECU's are programmed for VTEC. OBD1 p28 ECU is your best bet.

to the left of the farthest right intake stud.. that little rectangular port.

2:thanks

3: i disconnected those 3 plugs and they came with the rest of the harness... do i need the part those plugs go to?it seems plug and play with my d15 del sol harness.

4: ok, ill swap the ecu.

I believe thats a coolant port. Should be a little pipe on the intake manifold.

You aren't going to pay a machine shop to get the motor ready for rebuild?

Oh boy, another halfassed project

Oh so we're talking about the car? I thought we were talking about this p.o.s looking motor. I don't see any car information in the OP. Than again you probably don't know what you're doing anyways since you couldn't even identify a simple port on the back of the block.

For the record my mom's car has 258k and her engine doesn't even look anything like that block so to use an excuse that this car of yours has high mileage is probably what a lazy *** would use.

For someone like you I wouldn't waste a dime, nor a penny, to pay for machine work.

OP, I realize that we might be coming off as hardasses, or dicks, or douchebags, or whatever you want to call us, but look at it from our perspective. We deal with lazy idiots who refuse to do things correctly, and refuse to listen to us, all the time. So much so, that we have a very short temper towards it, and no interest in continuing to put up with it. I'm not saying you're one of those people, but your unwillingness to take your motor to a machine shop is a pretty strong indicator.

There is a proper procedure to follow for all things car related. If you are willing to follow those procedures, we can be an amazing resource for you. If you are unwilling to follow those procedures, we have a habit of deriding, degrading, denigrating, and generally abusing the **** out of people until they get lost. Please don't let yourself fall into category 2.

Glad to see negative Nancy is on my topic again.

It's my car, right
My money, right?

Can't we stay on topic and simply give an answer to the question posed?

I don't care about Internet people opinions. I just wanted information on some minor things.

Edit for Tony,
I bought a civic ex a week ago for 500 to jack the rear disc arms, motor and trans from to swap to my del sol. Once everything comes in and I open the motor im cleaning everything off then along with a full rebuild.
I'm new top hondas. Didn't know why there was carbon in a water port.

I work full time and have a small window after work i can tinker on it so I haven't had the chance to fully do what I'm trying to.

Slow progress. I only bought the ex for part. I have no idea how the p.o. treated the car.

Little by little is how I get to progress.

full rebuild cannot be done without SOME machine work, hence you being called halfassed. we do things right, or we don't do them. if you're dead set on doing it the wrong way, toss a gasket kit at it and call it good.
