Default cold air intake question?

i have read a couple places on here that you should use and integra cai for the civic d16z6 engines because it is 3 in which supposedly gives you more hp gain. if this is true is it a clean swap in or is there some modifications you must do to do it. and any other info that might help. thx in advance.

I may be wrong but I think only the ITR aem is the 3" version. I have no idea about the fitment though.

Yes, the only vehicle I've heard of that has the 3" intake piping is the Integra Type R. I don't think fitment is an issue. Just get a rubber coupling that goes from 3" to the specific diameter (or close to) of the throttle body. The piping should go through the body and behind the bumper. If fitment is not right, there's nothing wrong with a little fabrication here and there to adjust the size.

so i want the integra type R cai? will any cai do or do i need a specific brand and make? i was thinking about the injen cai? i know there are better but the price is right in this case. so as far as connecting it to the intake manifold all i need is a rubber coupling that goes from 3 in to what ever size it is that it connects too? and i need to buy that it doesn't come with the cai?

well see the reason y AEM and injen dont make a 3in. intake for the z6 is because the spend a lot of time testin the different sizes of intakes pipes and i would think that they would put out the best sized pipe for the app. true it will get more air to the TB but the air wont be movin as fast as the 2.5 or 2.75 not sure on size. u can get the ITR one and see how it does and try a friends z6 one and see what works better. thas just my .02 and do what ever u wanna do
