I think you will be unhappy with a flywheel that is that light. Anything under 10lbs is really a race only setup. i have an ACT streetlite flywheel (11.8 lbs) and even that is a bit difficult at times...

With something as light as 7lbs you are going to probably stall the car a lot and trying to keep the car in the fat part of the powerband will be hard because the revs will drop so fast...

the d15 only puts out like 98hp at the crank, stock exedy would be fine and get a flywheel over 10lbs

You would be fine with either clutch. If you want a little more gripping power get the F1.

But yeah I meant get one that weighs more than 10lbs for a daily driven car.

Get the Exedy. I ran a Stage 2 cerametallic on my stock block turbo GSR and i loved that clutch. After that i was sold on Exedy products. Also, i would go with a fly in the 11lb range...however with the longer stroke of the D series, it's almost better to give up a few revs and have the added kinetic energy of the heavier flywheel.

I am going to an F1 stage 1 clutch and an Exedy HF501 flywheel (10.9lbs). will it be too much for a stock d15b? thanks

Sounds good.. Just remember a staged (1, 2, 3 etc) is designed to grip, while an OEM clutch is meant for "economy" use and will last longer. Just my 0.02 cents, but either one will be fine.

Get the OEM exedy unless you're planning to boost later. You don't need anything more.

I don't really see the problem with a light flywheel. I had a 7.5# aluminum Fidanza on my y8 for like 3 years, and it wasn't hard to drive all - I taught my wife to drive manual on it, and she didn't even have a problem driving it. I think they do cause clutches to go bad a little quicker because you have a tendency to rev it more and slip the clutch more.

They do IMO make it a little more fun to drive, and seem to make it pull a bit harder because of the lower rotational mass on the crank.
