Will a resurfaced stock flywheel be fine with a heavier duty clutch like an Exedy stage1? Or is it worth it to cough up the doe and go with a LW flywheel?

Any opinions would help. Thanks!

the exedy stage 1 is basically a stock replacement... i have that clutch... it grabs a lil better than stock and makes the pedal much harder which i personally dont mind.... i have the stock flywheel as well.. doesnt matter if you use the stock flywheel. but if you get a lighter flywheel you might enjoy it more and get more out of it. if your gona spend around 300$ check this one i found.

SADLY when i bought my exedy clutch i spent almost that much on the clutch kit alone!!! this one includes a light flywheel.....

i have been running the ACT 6 puck unsprung with a heavy duty pressure plate on my stock flywheel with zero problems

Thanks guys. I dont feel that the flywheel is worth it. Just gonna resurface the stockie.

i had my stock flywheel lightened to 12 lbs. and i love it..i would highly recommend either lightening your stock or getting a lightweight flywheel

i dont know how much it would cost to do..it was pretty much a "homeboy hookup"

from what i was told 12lbs is a good compromise between performance and daily driving

i like it a lot better than stock weight..revs up faster and feels like it freed up a little power earlier in the powerban

When my clutch went out, i got the exedy stage 1 and a fidanza flywheel (7lbs).
IMO, the lightweight flywheel is worth it. There are some pretty cheap kits on e-bay that sell clutch and LW flywheel. But you have to experience the LW flywheel for yourself - hardly any sacrafice in drivablity - and for the record, you don't have to rev the **** out of the motor to get it going haha.

A stockie resurface will run me 80... and a new Fidanza 7.5lb aluminum flywheel is 140. Think its worth the extra 60?

You get what you pay for, eh? Plus it's brand new and less to worry about. Think about the long term as well as how long it'll take to get the small amount that is $60. If it was me I would go the extra yard.

$80 for just a resurface? it shouldnt cost more that $30

i would go for the lightweight flywheel though..i havent tried anything as light as that fidanza but i love my 12lb flywheel

I've also got an Exedy stage 1 with a stock flywheel and it's just fine. Now my car is not about going fast due to all the extra weight I have in it but the clutch feels better mainly due to my previous clutch being f*cked. It is a bit tougher for daily driving, but it's no stage 2 which is a good thing(I had one in my Del Sol and hated it - too damned hard).

seriousely i have a 8lb flywheel in my car with an exedy stage 1 clutch. i love it. people say it makes dd harder but i didn't even notice it. what i did notice was rev's 2x faster and between gears rpm's drop faster.

For example going from 1st to 2nd at redline my rpm's use to only drop back to 6200. but now with the light flywheel it drops to like 5800. but thats just what i noticed.

I also have the 8lb fidanza wheel, anything negative you've heard about them,
is more then likely Not true, I like the flywheel a Lot more then my stocker.

It's also makes downshifts with rev matching Soooo nice, helluva easy to do,
and this is ran on a lightly boosted setup, on a gsr trans, nothing is to short or revs Too fast.
