Default clutch pedal goes to floor and doesn't come back up

I unbolted the slave cylinder from the tranny b/c something was sqeaking a lot when I pressed the clutch pedal. I lubricated where the piston thing hits the shift linkage thing but I think i put it back together wrong because all the fluid started leaking out of the slave when I pressed the clutch pedal. I think i got it right now (I think I had the metal piston in backwards maybe but the clutch pedal still just does to the floor and I have to manually pull it back up. Is there air in the system now or do I still have something wrong?

is it possible to bleed the system without a hose or bleeder kit?

Yes but it's environmentally unfriendly and makes it easier for air to get in through the bleeder valve while you're working. Suspending the hose in fluid prevents air from getting in.

I've always just opened the bleeder screw, push clutch down, tighten bleeder screw, pull clutch up. Worked fine on all cars I've done it. Just an alternative solution I guess.

i was told...and this is how i did mine
pump clutch ( by hand since its sticking to the floor) i would say 10 to 20 times
and then hold it to the floor
and have a buddy open the valve and let the air out and tighten it back up

do this till u get the pressure back in the clutch

also make sure there is plenty of fluid in the resivor and replace as needed in the process since it will squirt it out

I use the One-Man Bleeder kit that costs $4 at Harbor Freight Tools.

BTW the squeaking is your throw-out bearing. pretty common on our cars.
