Default Clutch Pedal ?

I just rebuilt my engine and added a new clutch back in December. I recently have been experiencing problems with the clutch pedal. When i start my car, the clutch pedal just sinks to the floor like it has no hydrolic fluid in it and after a few pumps, it feels normal again. Could it be the clutch, clutch master cylinder or air in the lines? Any advice?

I would suggest you bleed the lines, it sounds like air in the lines. if that doesent fix it then you may want to check for leaks related to the master cylinder, maybe a rebuild is in question.

check for fluid leaks under your clutch pedal and by the clutch fluid reservoir, and also near the slave cylinder in front of the car.

I have determined that there is a very slow leak coming from the master cylinder. That will let the air in. Should i buy a new master cylinder or can i have it rebuilt or change the seals.

the master cylinder is for brakes.

You either need a clutch fluid reservoir or slave cylinder

There is a master cylinder for the clutch system. Altho its allways reffered to as the Clutch master cylinder

Edit:
You could allways put a little patch of Jb-Weld depending on where it is, but id recomend going up to the local salvage yard and picking one up that way.

look into how much a rebuilt/new one will cost you.

If you like to learn about your car get a helms manual (or haynes) and go buy a overhaul kit for the clutch master cylinder. Its not very hard...especialy if you can read and your not allergic to dot 3 or 4 brake fluid

Im sorry I just read your first post...obviously if you rebuilt your engine this is no major task for you. good luck

get one through the dealership...it will be more expensive than a local parts supplier but its a direct replacement. If you want to save a little money try auto zone, advanced auto, pep boys, checkers, car quest, napa will be your best bet for imports...but you can definately get it through the dealer. Remember...a rebuild kit usualy contains seals, gaskets, orings, etc....an overhaul kit normal contains seals, gaskets, orings, hardware, and components in your case boots and so forth. you get the idea. they may only offer an overhaul kit so go to the parts department at honda and get some info and a base price before you shop around. thats what I always do. good luck.

or you could do the more expensive less painful way and just replace it.

I think I just figured something out, when i was looking at the master cylinder at the fire wall. I saw that the threaded line that goes from the cylinder to the resevior is soaked in clutch fluid. I personally think the master cylinder is good, just the line got weak and is letting fluid out and air into my system. What do u think?
