94 civic hatch. jdm d16a. si tranny.
i'm about to put in a new clutch for my sohc and have some question about breaking in. i search and it said to drive street for about 500miles and freeway miles dont count. well if i take it easy and dotn go beyound 3500k can i still drive on the free way or during break in period i must try to avoid freeway all together? becuase i use freeway to go to work and was wondering is it safe to drive it easy on freeway with a clutch being broken in. thanks.

just take it easy on the freeway and do any city driving you can

i know freeway milage dotn count. but my question was is it safe to drive freeway during break in period. or do it must drive ALL street until i broke it in.

it should be safe, the clutch just isn't used as much. So since you do mostly freeway i'd put more miles on it before banging gears

hahaha..... you could drive on the freeway that has nothing to do with anything. Its just driving. What you think is going to happen the clutch blows up?

well its not a good brand. so i dont trust it much. i was broke and couldn't afford a good one. so afraid at high speed the clutch might slip cuz when i cruise at 80mph my rpm is at 4k...

All that torque you've got will roast your clutch in no time.

Driving on the hwy is fine. It doesn't count, because the clutch is constatnly engaged = No slipping.

means by "hw driving doesn't count" is that it doesn't count towars ur 500 miles, it's fine to drive in the highway, no problems there, but they're saying if u put 500 miles on the highway, how many times do u shift? It can't be attributed to shifting of everyday driving...it's a lot less

just dont do any burnouts are clutch dumps until you have put a few hundred shifts on it and it will be good to go. a stock replacement clutch doesnt use friction material w/ a high coeficient so they break in pretty quickly. the best thing to do is drive normally, let it sit for a couple hours or so, and repeat. making sure the clutch doesnt overheat in the break in process is key to longevity.
