My clutch break-in plan
Install it Saturday morning (already have it disassembled), drive around as much as possible...drive the long way to my parents house, thru downtown...30 miles in traffic.....drive back...30 more miles...drive to the dragstrip... 80+ miles.... make a few easy passes down the strip....no popping the clutch, smooth careful shifts...then romp on it.....What do you guys think
BTW.....exedy organic clutch kit & ACT Streetlite flywheel.......

i didn't take my car past 4k until i had 300 miles on it. man did that suck. i'm not sure how necessary it really was, but i'd feel hella stupid if my clutch wore out real soon because i was impatient.
why risk it? just break it in properly.

I always thought you are suppose to "break in" a new clutch it in kinda like when you buy a brand new car?

i've heard different things...the one that i like the most was "i heard you're supposed to break it in like you're gonna drive it" this coming from an autocross hero...he also works at a car shop that specializes in Honda's...i think break in period's are overrated....just wanted some peace of mind.

Re: (thehatchninja)
it depends on the type of clutch....organic you have to take it easy for a few hundred miles... a metal 4 or 6 puck they say like 2 or 3 hard 1/4 mile runs burns off the coating on the outside and it should be broken in

Re: (xerox445)
i played it safe with my act clutch. 500 miles with no hard shifting. after a couple hundred miles i slowly would shift a little faster and let the clutch out a little harder.
the first time i actually let it go i was at 515miles. fourth gear chirps are neato.

I have the same setup with the exedy organic and the Streetlite flywheel. I did take about 250 -300 miles of easy driving but i think that you'd be fine with about 100 miles of heating it up and cooling it down.
