Default Cluster shift light

I have an 88 dx that I have installed a cluster with a tach, my question is there a way to make the shift light work? Is it controlled by the tach or by a tranny sensor?

I searched the boards here and didnt really find anything. But I do remember reading a blurb somewhere, something to the effect of take a wire and connect it to x on the cluster harrness and connect the other end to x.

Thx

Blue wire on your distributor is your RPM reference for a tach... Good luck from there.
