Default intake manifold leak

ok I need help on this ASAP. I have a 98 civic cx motor. I put a 97 civic ex INTAKE MANIFOLD on it with a 97 civic ex gasket. Do I need a cx gasket or is it the same as the ex gasket. The first time we started the car we had the VACUME line mixed up with the ANTI freeze line so when we started the car it shot ANTIFREEZE into the gasket that might have made the gasket bad, so tomorrow im going to buy teh same INTAKEMANIFOLD gasket and replace it and see if that was the problem. We tightend up the bolts to the intake manifold pretty good some im sure that the bolts were tight enough. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME.

what's the leak? are you spilling coolant? if you think it's the bolts, tighten them down some more and see if that takes care of it.

air is leaking not coolant, im getting really ****** mad too at this ****** bolt that im trying to get, its the one in the middle, i got it yesterday, but today it just keeps falling off and either onto the block which 3 of them have or on to the drivewar which 2 of them have. im getting ready to get the **** out of this whole import ****, and by a car that i cant try to make go faster, like a CADILAC or LINCOLN or something in the luxuary part this ***** making me mad.

if the intake manifold gasket is leaking, then when you crank up the car, it will rev very high (like 4000-5000 rpm's) and stay there. The revs will not go down. If your car isnt doing that then I dont think it is the intake mani gasket.

It has to be the gasket or something in that area. we sprayed some wd40 around that genral area and you could see the air pusing the wd40 out.

from what it sounds like (front what you put in the posts)
just tighten the intake manifold bolts onto the head.
just tighten it pretty good.
check the vacuum hoses to see if they are messed up or connected.
and make sure all the wire harness plugs are put in their proper spots

i know everything is wired up right cause i havent had a check engine light YET. im trying to get this bolt onto the middle now, which im still having troubles with. i just went to HONDA not to long ago and bought another intake manifold gasket, just tryinng to get the manifold back on, if its still leaking im giving up and just wasting $500 on a ex motor.

your best bet is to take off the gasket that you are using now and head over to eaither a junk yard or a honda dealership or speedshop and try to find a real EX gasket. This should take care of it. Good Luck!!

I havent been following the threads but:

1) Replace the gasket with a new one.
2) Clean the surfaces of both the IM and the the cylinder head with a blade.

well i got it fixed finally. i went to a HONDA tech and he told me I had a 99 ex intakemanifold. it has a valve in the middel of the intake manifold right where it connects to the head and that was causing all the problem. So i went out and got a 98 ex intakemanifold and that fit fine the intake manifold came off a AUTOMATIC but i guess that doesnt really matter cause I have had no check engine lights YET. Oh for future reference for people who do this swap dont tighten those bolts down to tight, I broke a stud off in my head cause i thought it wasnt tight enough. According to the HAYNES MANUAL you need to tighten them in a PATERN starting with the MIDDLE bottom bolt (the piece of **** pain in the *** bold) then work your wayaround. Also it sais no more then 17lbs of torque. If anybody is doing this swap and need some help I will be glad to help, thanks for all the help everyone.

Steve

My 99 (aka 96-98) has the letter P2P can someone tell me what year it is exactly????
My 98 has the letter P2K and im 99% sure thats a 98 INtake manifold?????
