Default CKSF sensor questions??

ok i have a dumb but serious question ok on the b18 motors the crankshaft speed fluctuation sensor is a 2 wire plug and on the 96-98 civic d16y8 motor it is a 3 wire plug. the wires are light blue, white, and a black wire. the blue and white wires plug into the sensor itself but the black wire spirals around the other 2 completely stripped and plugs into nothing. so on the b18 can i just cut the 2 wire plug off the sensor and splice the 3 wire plug in to the sensor and just let the black wire chill unpluged?? or does it absolutly NEED to have that black wire SPIRAL around the blue and white ones??? any suggestions would be AWSOME. thanks alot.

The black wire is the shielding braid, it is not necessary for that little stretch of wire you can just leave it or take it out.
