There will be no difference, but if it breaks you're screwed. I'm pretty sure that the Z6 and Y8 are interference motors.

edit: Get a Helms.

Interference motor = valves will contact pistons and cause damage if the timing belt snaps.

Supposed to replace timing belt and inspect water pump every 90k under normal conditions and 60k under severe conditions. As far as waiting 800 miles to change it out, you will probably be fine, might want to inspect it though for cracks and wear though.

I think the book says 105,000 for timing belt and water pump.

Oh excuse me, forgot to mention this was the quote for a z6 via the helms, not that it should matter, gonna be just about the same.

I guess I should have been more specific as well, I got my number from the owner's manual for a Y8. Either way I would probably do it at 80 or 90,000 anyways just becuase of what was mentioned before about the Y8 and Z6 being interference motors.

Remove the valve cover and upper timing belt cover and inspect the belt. Most people recommend replacing the belt at 90k miles. The helms manual says 60k under severe conditions and 105k under normal conditions.

you'll be fine going to 103k as long as the belt isn't in **** condition. If it looks dry or cracked, replace it, regardless if you are at 90k, 105k, or 30k. If the belt breaks while you are driving.... kiss your valves goodbye. quick fix, just go to your local parts store and get the belt. Good Luck

Slightly off topic, but how bad is it to leave your upper timing belt cover off? I had to because of my adj. cam gear. I keep my engine bay really clean, it seems unlikely something would get caught in the top.
