hondas are generally cheap to maintain and always let you know when something needs to be replaced.

brake pads-they have clips on them that squeal when they need to be replaced

rotors-they usually warp before they get to the point of replacement. if you bring them to a shop to be turned down when theyre warped they will tell you how much is left

clutch-it will slip when it needs to be replaced. get the flywheel resurfaced when you replace the clutch

motor-change the oil every 3000 miles and dont beat the living **** out of it and it will last forever

trans-hondas usually get a third gear grind in high rpms if you continually beat on the car

tune up-replace the spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap, rotor and air filter every year

hondas only use a single coil and occasionally it will randomly burn out while youre driving. simple fix but you'll probably need a tow

The EM1 is no different than any other Honda with a DOHC VTEC engine.

You're going to use 91 octane (or whatever Premium is in your area) and other than that, the maintenance procedures are the same for any other Honda.

The biggest struggle you're going to have, being a 22 year old male (if your profile is correct), is insurance. The second biggest struggle you're going to have is keeping your car--EM1's are almost getting to ITR status with the amount of theft and lack of clean titled examples

i live in a pretty good town so i dont think it being stolen would be a problem, also i'll keep it garaged and get a security system for when i bring it on campus next in the fall. insurance wouldn't be that bad i think...3200 a year. CLEAN TITLE TOO!
