Default CHECK ENGINE: VTECH SOLENOID 99-00' SI

OK. I am unable to figure this out myself, so maybe someone with experience pertaining to the thread could help me out.

For about 3-4 months I've had my check engine light running for my vtech solenoid and just recently I decided to replaced my vtech solenoid on DEC 18th and have put close to 300 miles on the new/used vtech solenoid and still the check engine light is running. My car now red lines at about 6 and half grand since the problem occured 4 months ago and seems as if there's no end to the ever evolving problem...

To add to that, the car is also experiencing a little back fire and bogs every now and then. I was assuming maybe the timing on the distributor may be off slightly. Any suggestions?

I also, recently upgraded a few parts: DC HEADERS[NEW], MAGNAFLOW HI FLOW CAT[NEW], and BOSCH 02 SENSOR[NEW]
Maybe, the car needs to be tuned?
BTW the odometer reads 71,000. So, why so many problems?

HELP ME PLEASE!
LOL

Did you call customer service?

I've never had this problem (yet) and haven't really been with my honda that long, but after reading around on the forum, I would say try cleaning your iacv/grounds to try and help the bogging down. I just hope someone that really knows can correct me and help you out. GL

ok i had the same problem as you. i got a 00 civic si with 77thou miles. i went through everything with mine. had the same crap as you. it goes into limp mode and wouldnt let me go pasted 6500rpms. first i thought it was the vtec plug loose, i tryed the silnoid, pressure switch, cleaned the silnoid screen before replaced it. u can check to see if yours is working right by splising the wire and taking a wire to that and the battery and everytime u hit the wire, the silnoid should click.

but one of my freinds freinds who works on civics all day everyday. told me it was my ecu and to get a stepdown and run a chipped 95ecu. so thats what i did and my cel went away and my vtec been ripping everysince.

people were telling me oil pressure and etc which would shut down the vtec. but i realized a day before i got my ecu. i would try this out on yours.

soon as i would start my car, my vtec would work until my car was warmed up and then it woud go into limp mode. which is werid because u shouldnt even rip ur vtec while ur engine is cold, i always wait till mine is warmed. but thats what i relized towards the end. i would look at that if i was you.

idk let me kno how it turns out

I had this problem for along time.

When you replace the vtech solenoid you must also replace the vtech transceiver. The reason is because one is operating at 800mhz and the the other at 2.4ghz. By replaceing both they are both operating at 2.4ghz.
