Default CEL and running hot after thermostat change

i have a b16 in my 94 ex and i bought the car done like this and didnt have a therm in it and took a while to warm up then after it warmed up would get cold again but everything was fine besides that,now after i changed it n put a 170 in it my car runs way hott past the middle and check engine came on and now speedo isnt working and hitting rev at 4500,if i push in the clutch while driving my launch control goes off if i floor it.this never happened before and im just getting back into hondas and lost,please help.thanks

What code or codes you getting from the check engine light? Does your radiator can turn on?

Replace the thermostat with an OEM unit. Reset the ECU. Work from there. Civics don't have "launch control."

i havent ran a code on it yet,actually was lookin it up now,and have my fan hard wired so i turn it on as soon as it hits runnin temp,and thanks i think i will get one from honda and i kno a stock one does,but i have a chipped ecu so

Bleed the cooling system and pull the CEL codes.

ok i always thought 2 step was for boosted cars and launch control was for na cars,and thanks bud i will do that tomorrow and let u kno how it comes out.thanks and another thing i just took it out when it was cold and no problem then it got hott then it started acting up,do u guys think its leaking on the speed sensor and causing it to act up
