Default CEL problem need help!

so about a month ago the CEL came on and it threw out the code "P0172 System Too Rich Bank 1". i replaced all the spark plugs and reset the code but a day later it came back on again. last week i replaced the O2 sensor(sensor 1 before the cat). reset the code. no code for 1 week and today it came back on again. what could the problem be? could it be that i replaced the wrong sensor? maybe i shouldve replaced sensor 2? i bought the car used on NOV 2010 and it looks like the previous owner never did a tune up on it.

oh ye i should mention that this happened like 2-3 weeks after i converted my tranny auto-manual. my car originally has vtec but now it doesnt cause of the ECU. the mechanic said that he couldnt put a vtec ECU because of something like the pins are different. something like my car has a 2 pin or something like that and the vtec ecu has a 3 pin (or the other way around) not really sure what he said. but yea he said that in order for me to get vtec is to change the intake manifold so he can put the vtec ecu in which will cost me about $400. could this be the cause of the CEL?

also im not sure but i feel like my car is burning more fuel after the CEL came on but im not really sure maybe its just me. really need help here guys this is bugging the sh*t out of me.

Yes the ecu can cause it to run rich, but all u need is a jumper harness because it sound like ur trying to go from obd2 to obd1, but u should also check fuel pressure and if the pressure regulator is leaking.just pull off the little vacuum hose that goes to it while engine is running, if it leaks u should smell gas or see it pour out
