Catalytic Convertor Studs
I have a 2000 Civic EX which I put a cat-back exhaust on. The problem is I had bought an aftermarket catalytic convertor and when I went to put it on it did not fit right so I used my factory catalytic convertor. The problem is I messsed up one of the studs that connects to the center section of the exhaust. I think it is leaking because the nut cross threaded on the stud. Can the studs be hammered out and replaced or do I need to buy a new cat. Thanks for any help.

hammer out the stud and replace it with a nut+bolt. When I got a test pipe it didnt have bolts or studs so I robbed them off of my old cat.

Re: Catalytic Convertor Studs (CRITTERMATT)
i snapped a well-rusted cat bolt, and had to take it to a midas - they broke out the torch and got it out, no charge. i used an auto-grade bolt in its place. i tried knocking it out myself, but it was rusted and corroded from being in ny.

Man, when we put my exhaust on a few days ago, one of the cat bolts broke in half because the nut was rusted on so bad, and the other 2 came off fine. And apparently the previous owner had the exhaust redone and they welded new studs into the cat and those werent gonna come out. We had to drill the ****** out and but in a new nut and bolt. Lemme tell ya that was a pain in the ***. I'm about to drop some $ on a high flow because I tired takin it to meineke and they were ******** and told me to bring the exhaust in and theyd put it on for 65 bucks and I told them no and they basically blew me off, never spole amother word to me again. Always Have A Backup Plan . But yea, just get a new nut and bolt and slap em together, you'll be good to go.
