Hello, I'll try to sum up as concisely as possible.

Head gasket had a leak
had a machine shop mill the head
Just finished reinstalling
Engine started for about 5-10 seconds.
Shut off on its own.
Checked timing by setting TDC on cam gears, and Crank pulley
Tried to start again, wont restart

any ideas?

Thank you very much for the suggestions. It appears I do not have spark at all. The in cab #9 fuse was blown, replaced it, still nothing. Removed the distributer cap, tested the coil. It tested 0 ohm resistance between the two primaries meaning it failed. Off to buy. New one and go from there.

Any ideas why that might happen? I'm just guessing its my kinda luck

Replaced the ignition coil, still no spark

No progress. I've gone through every test in the haynes manual, its getting power through the harness to the blk/ylw and bl/wht wires. I suppose the next thing according to the haynes is a new ICM?

i dont suppose anyone has any other ideas what i might have missed? such as downer after having completed my first head gasket install by myself to run into this problem.

any help would be appreciated.

Make sure the ground on the thermostat housing is on and tight - G101:

Test the new coil just to be sure. If it's an aftermarket coil it could be bad out of the box.

Does the fuel pump prime? Did the timing belt snap or strip?

how much was the head milled? did you use a adjustable cam gear?
