car wont go into gear
today i was getting to school and went through a puddle and the car started acting wierd(like it started to hop). i parked my car went to class for a little bit over an hour and when i came outside started the car and it didnt want to go into any gear. it only goes in when the car is off.
does the puddle i went through mess something up?

And thereafter you have problems changing to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or reverse? With the engine running, do you hear noise when you press the clutch pedal down or when you bring it back up? Have you checked for water in the tranny?

When you take off in second gear, will the engine disengage from the transmission (car is no longer propelled forward) when you push the clutch pedal down? Or do you have to pop the transmission into neutral? In other words, does the clutch work?

Your clutch is still dragging even when the pedal is pushed down, and this is preventing you from shifting gears once the engine is running. Start by checking for low fluid in the clutch master cylinder reservoir. You also may have air in the system, which requires bleeding, or even a bad master or slave cylinder. Another possibility is a bad clutch pressure plate.

ill agree with the dude above, check ur clutch cyl. probably low or empty semms like the puddle is just a coincidence. air in the line is now a possibility if it ran dry, they r know for leaking into the car. they wear out when people sit at stop lights with the clutch pushed in. its just pressure on the little seal that does not need to be there. when u drive ill bet u sit at lights with it in gear huh?
