maybe you were holding down the clutch and thats why it began to roll.

It happened to me too, but my key was in the ACC/ON position. Take the key out and see if it does the same.

Mechanically, this cannot happen (assuming the car runs) unless:

a) there is no holding force left in the clutch
b) the gear wasn't fully engaged (halfway in)
c) you have no axles
d) you are missing teeth on a gear inside your transmission
e) you have stripped the splines on your mainshaft (like Sakai)

Did I miss any?

I've had that happen in various cars. All conditions being right, the wheels can backdrive the engine through the gears. I don't think it's *necessarily* a problem.

umm.. if his clutch is fully engaged and its still slipping then he has a serious problem.. I don't think thats the prob..

Edit: I don't even think that is possible.. unless your flywheel fell out of your transmission or something.. LoL!

Don't ask me why it did that, but it did. I would like to know why.

Are you sure you were in first gear? In higher gears its much easier for that to happen. If fifth for instance its quite easier to push a car slowly while its in gear.

How far did it roll back? Cause it'll roll back a little bit before it catches the engine.

its just like trying to turn the crank pulley... as soon as you get compression... no more movement... so:

A: you are really loosing compresion in your engine...

B: you were pressing the clutch and not realize it... ive done that before.hehe

if it just rolled a little bit it was your engine making a complete rotation... if it kept on rolling.... then i dunno wtf youve done to your car.
