car not starting after new water pump installed?
can some one help me with this and i am not a car tech guy, so bare with me? so i installed a new water pump to a 95 civic and now it won't start? it started before.. we did the timing right, just keep clicking and won't start, no spark to the spark plugs, i got another whole used distributer and it wasn't that, checked the thermo ground wire. i read that to check wires with a volt/electricity tester, dunno how to do that? checked the fuses. wondering if any plugs were unplug when i did the water pump? thanks

The starter cranks the engine but it won't start, right?
Does the fuel pump prime?
Any CEL codes?
Did you check fuses 31 and 24?
Does the Blk/Yel wire attached to coil inside the distributor have voltage?

again im not a expert.
you need to simplify some of these for me, lol sorry.
crank?
how do you listen for prime?
no codes coming up
fuses 31 and 24, where? i checked all fuses good
haven't taken apart the dis but i unpluged the wires next to dis and stuck a volt/elec tester and no light indicating has power.

crank?
When the key is turned to ON(III), does the starter turn the engine like normal?
how do you listen for prime?
When you turn the key from OFF to ON(II), you should hear the low buzzing/humming noise of the fuel pump priming for 2 seconds in the rear (gas tank).
no codes coming up
When you turn the key from OFF to ON(II), the CEL should turn on and then off after 2 seconds if no codes are thrown. Does this happen?

Double check both fuses (see below).

When the key is turned to ON(II), the Blk/Yel wire should have voltage. Remove the distributor cap, rotor, and inner cover to test this wire.

yes, it cranks
no but i do hear a buzz seems like from the front though. so no from the rear.
no cell code appears at all
checked the fuses
and no voltage for the blk/yllw wires

For 2 seconds, right? Sometimes it's hard to pinpoint the source of sounds. You can verify fuel pump priming by removing the fuel fill cap and putting your ear to the fill hole while a buddy turns the key to ON(II).

Does the CEL turn on and then off after 2 seconds? Or does it never turn on?
and no voltage for the blk/yllw wires
With the key in ON(II), right? One probe touching wire and the other touching body ground, right? If so, the Blk/Yel wire may be broken somewhere between the distributor and the ignition switch.

Re: car not starting after new water pump installed?
nothing i tried to listen on my db and i hear it, not the civic though.
never turn on if on accessory, so no showing at all, all five red lights turn on no yellow.
yep turned on and no light indicating volt to blk/yllw wire? if so where would it be broken off? could be any where but i have no clue where those wire are for and to and from

Re: car not starting after new water pump installed?
would a kill switch on a distributer have anything to do with it. the previous owner put a kill switch on the dis but i rarely touch it.

Re: car not starting after new water pump installed?
A kill switch on the distributor would not prevent the fuel pump from priming. Post pictures of the altered wires and the switch.
You definitely want to sort out this kill switch as it may be the root cause of the problem.

Re: car not starting after new water pump installed?
well i may have found the disconnection there, first it was the longer green wire and the top blk/yllw as you can see, might be confusing but picture it. there was a disconnection between the top green and the clear thing with the blkylw wire. let me try to reconnect those four.

Re: car not starting after new water pump installed?
Lol wtf is going on in that picture?
Btw glad you got it up and working...it sucks when you get new stuff installed excited about the first start up and nothing....
Also, if he had any other kill-switches in there you might want to go ahead and re-wire them...that mess looks janky.
