i just painted my car and did a color change on it and for some reason i took off the sticker in the door jamb. i was wanting to know if i can get a new one from the dealer to replace it? has anyone ever had to do this?

I believe you might be able to get a replacement sticker from the state, but the dealer doesn't sell them.

in california you have to go the the chp (california highway patrol) just my .02

you go through theft recovery and they will revin the car. usually they come to dmv 2 times a month

revin? as in change the vin number? i didnt hink that was possible

thanks for the replies. ill go down to the dmv tomorrow and ask. i still have the vin number on the dash and its on the firewall too, so i shouldnt have to revin it. hopefully they can just give me a new sticker. i think here in ky you have to fill out paperwork and request permission to remove that sticker before you touch it which i did not do. i hope i dont get into some kind of trouble lol

i called honda, they said they can not get them on that old of a car. its a 95

Might be worth trying another Honda dealership too. I had Acura scoff at me once when I asked if I could get a service manual for a 2000. "Oh no! Not that old of a car!" It's a freaking service manual. Ten years isn't that old.

You can get owner's manuals AND service manuals from the company that makes them for all the auto manufacturers.

I know I can get service manuals from Helms.

My Honda dealership will order them new for you though, plus they sell used ones at a discounted price.

Yeesh...I don't think you want to do that it will screw up your title and carfax. I wonder if you really even need that sticker. I know they like the bar code for smog here in Ca but do you guys even have smog?

What if u lost the vin that goes to the dash? I swapped my dash to black and completely forgot about the vin till it was gone.

I think if someone carfaxed it and noticed it received a new sticker, the repainted door jams would be obvious why it was "revin'd". They would only put something like theft recovery if that was the actual case.

IIRC the VIN is also engraved in the engine-side firewall, so it should still be legal to drive it. Worst-case they tell you not to drive til you get a sticker, not like they'd crush it.
