Camshaft d16y8
Good evening , sorry for the translation, I'm using the online translator. My name is Fabian , I'm from Argentina . I am the owner of a Honda Civic Coupe engine Mod 96 D16Y8 . Cut a block rod and broke into pieces , it is being repaired and I would like to give some other evil to the engine to make it a little better and with more power than before. He thought of a camshaft and a good ECU reprogramming . Think? Some camshaft to recommend ? Greetings from Argentina!

Lmao. These posts are one in a million.
If I'm understanding this correctly, your car broke a connecting rod and you were infected with the "while I'm in there" virus.
Replacing the camshaft is all well and good, but the camshaft is in the head. It isn't necessary to remove the camshaft to fix a connecting rod. But to answer your question: A camshaft is a very effective way to change your engine's behavior, and with the proper supporting mods, you can have a fun, reliable car.

Ohmega I already know that to change The rod I don't need to touch the camshaft, I was just saying what happened to me, and like I disassamble the motor because of that I'd like to give it much performance.

It's all good, we all have our dumb moments
OP, a mild cam, upgraded springs to match the cam, and a tune, and you'll be spending about 1000USD (or whatever your equivalent is) for very little power gain. It's your money, and your decision, but personally, I wouldn't consider it worth it.

While rebuilding get some PG6 pistons, those are from the 86-87 acura integra, they are flat top and will bump compression up nicely to just over 12:1. If that is too much compression get the PM6 pistons for about 10.5:1. Add a cam to that, i would go with Colt Colt Cams - Camshaft Profiles and then tuning with a p28 ecu using Hondata, Crome or Neptune. With a good tune and bolt on parts I would think another 15+ hp to the ground could easily be achieved. Add a set of stiffer valve springs and you might do a little better with the higher rev limit.
