Replacing valves with head job?
Good morning,
I am replacing the cylinder head gasket set on my D16Z6 due to coolant leaking through at cylinders 2 & 3. Going to be dropping the head off at a local machine shop to have valve stem seals replaced and machine work performed. I was told that some shops replace the valves as well while having head work done, especially the exhaust valves due to the extreme temps they see.
Would ya'all suggest doing the valves as well while the head is off?
I appreciate any feedback.
Thank you.

They can do it but what you just stated makes it sound like they include it in the charge to clean up the head, that is incorrect. They are capable of replacing the valve, either you provide the part or they source it and charge you accordingly.
its your head...do the valves look bad?

If you don't have any burned valves, no need in replacing them. Have them pressure check the head, shave it, and have the valves lapped if you want while its off. If you were leaking coolant due to a blown head gasket, def have it checked for warpage and shaved. Cheap insurance for peace of mind.
