Hey guys need some help. The car is currently licensed and registered in washington. My gf just got a job in so cal and her car is a 93 civic coupe dx and I installed a jdm d15 vtec. How can I get this to pass smog/get licensed in california? Thank you for the help.

damn its a jdm engine? i think you still need to get it BAR up since its a JDM im not to sure but thats what we do for JDM dohc here in cali. go to nearest CHP office and ask what are the stuff that you need to get the car a register or you can even search it but the only think i can tell you right now cops here in CALI are tough specially when it comes to our car and you live in SOCAL hehe. just follow the procedure and your good to go and welcome to CALI ahahah

well for the cops you intalled another single cam they wont know the diff so you coo thier but to smog yea you will need to ref the motor in the car their two rules: motor has to be same year or newer than the car 2) wire everything close to as stock for that motor as possible no short cuts other than that its like 8 bucks i think to ref hers the so cal number 1800-622-7733

u will need all usdm emissions parts then you should be good since that motor is a direct replacement for the single cam motor i believe

yeah if all the usdm emission parts are hooked up you should pass, i dont see why you need to bar it, when you bar your car it just means that youve swapped a newer or same engine motor that has a bigger displacement, d15b is still a 1.5 liter vs the usdm 1.5

Hey guys I am looking at several cars now that have swaps. I would like to pick one up as they are good deals. I would like to take it to the Ref/BAR and get it approved. What exactly do I need? If either a USDM/JDM DOHC motor.

jdm motors are not legal, my brother used to have a jdm b20b in his itr, cop pulled him over and was a dick and knew that all usdm motors have a number after the letter and so he got basically a fix-it-ticket to swap the car with a legal engine so he saved up and rebought a b18c5 for his itr.

JDM motors are legal as long as they have the USDM smog components.
