I did a compression test on my B16a2 numbers are around 180 across all 4 cylinders. I've read a bunch on contradicting post about what my numbers should be. is 180 good / bad...the reason I ask is because I'm burning oil. My motor has about 220k miles on it so I'm sure something is warn out. I only seem to burn noticable when I get on the throttle. So do you think my rings are bad or valve seals?

If its the seals how hard is it to change those? anyone know of a How-To guide for them? I'm getting ready to do my timing belt as well so I figure I'll take care of it when I have it all torn apart.

180 is almost perfect so your compression is fine...is sounds like valve seals

valve seals on these motors at about 150k start to leak from my past experience...

thats what I figured I wasn't to sure so I thought I'd ask before I spend the cash and rebuild the head.

well i have about 140k on my b16a3 and it burns oil too i have 220 compression on all 4 cylinders..
