How much effect do bumpstops have on the ride quality of your car? I am going to be swapping in my summer suspension today, and I think that I cut my bumpstops too much last year.

I ride on H&R Race with Koni Yellow shocks, I have the bumostops cut so they are about 1.5 inches in length. Is this too short? And what detriments/effects do shorter bumpstops have on the suspension? Am I doing any damage with having these bumpstops cut so short? (I cut off about 2 inches)

bumpstops cut too short can bottom out the shock... which i don't think is good for the shock.

when i did my race drop they told me to cut my bump stops in half and i haven't had a problem with it. So you should be ok

Usually I cut half off the bump stop whenever I lower any cars.

i will never cut another bump stop in my life. i blew out struts so fast. and the extra .25" of drop it will give you is not worth it. i repeat do not cut your bumpstops because it isnt worth it.

I was told that you need to cut bumpstops in half when lowering. I cut mine and haven't had a problem yet.

Same here, I never cut them bumpstops at all. Friends have had bad experiences when cutting them, even just a little.

if you buy the springs new, they should come with directions saying how much to cut the bumpstop... atleast my eibachs did, as well as my buddy's neuspeeds
