broke the rack?
today I was at an autox with my civic and had a problem. first of all the car is a '94 ex coupe with a b18c1 engine and teg brakes all around. stock shocks and springs with 15x6.5 wheels and kumho 711 tires. now back to the story. i had made 3 runs around the course in the car with no problems. then about half way through my 4th run i was going through a sharp left corner when i felt the steering get weird on me. basically what happened was i was taking the hard left when suddenly it decided it didn't want to turn so sharp anymore. i made it around that corner but i knew something wasn't right. in the next left turn i had to turn the wheel noticebly farther than usual to get the car to turn. (i had no unusual problems with turning the car right, this only seems to happen when turning left) so i get back into the pits and open my hood. the power steering pump now has a whining/grinding sound when you turn the wheel. the car will drive in a straight line with the steering wheel pointing anywhere from straight ahead to about an 1/8 of a turn to the left.
when i got the car home i put it up on stands and looked over all the suspension. there are no visual problems.
i think i may have snapped a tooth or two off of my rack gear and maybe a piece or two of it went up into the power steering pump. does that sound crazy? any ideas? the car has about 190,000 miles on it
thanks for the help everyone

Re: (isuhonda83)
Sounds very odd. I wonder if maybe you just knocked your alignment out of whack. If you haven't had one recently, might want to check that out
