Default Question

I currently installed an AEM cold air intake into my 99 civic si, and i mistakenly throughout the orignal air intake, and was told by my local tuning shop that I needed this in order for my check engine light to go off...he also said that bc this light was on my car was burning more fuel than normal. I have no clue if this is true or not, do i need the original equipment?...No clue

Check this thread to see what code you are throwing:

Once you've got the code you can track down what the problem actually is, but I'd be more than willing to be it's not your intake.

My suggestion to you is that you find a new mechanic/tuner shop. Its nice to have the OE parts incase you get a ticket, but you dont need it to get rid of a check engine light. And I agree with Ricey, check the code and then go from there. Good luck.
