Re: (Spool This)
The tranny doesn't have an engine code, and you can't just wire in vtec to a motor. Take a picture of the engine bay and we'll tell you if it has vtec.

You are fine. The valve cover does not say VTEC on it. You also won't feel the crossover in that car so no worries. Do you see the VTEC solenoid above the valve cover on the left side?

1992 and 1993 D16Z6 engines did not have "VTEC" on the valvecover - that was 1994-1995 only.
As far as it saying "D16Z6" on the tranny it doesn't - you're seeing the actual block code stamped on the engine block, unless someone literally wrote or used a stamp tool to stamp the tranny case itself.
Also like others have stated you will not really hear the VTEC on a stock D16Z6, especially if you don't have an aftermarket intake. You can hear the VTEC sometimes with certain intakes because the VTEC system on the Z6 only utilizes VTEC on the intake valves, so an exhaust system can actually drown it out more.

illicitdis youre the reason n00bs have a bad name. the d16z6 is the stock motor in the 92-95 civic, all of which are vtec. The 94-95 are the only years that the VTEC is on the valve cover. The tranny doesnt have d16z6 on it, it might have s20 or s40. I cant remember off the top of my head.

Then someone must have changed it because it didn't come that way from the factory

Yeah I have no clue what I'm talking about.
I guess it never occurred to you that someone could have swapped the valvecover?
