Bottom end Turbo build d16y8
With the money it seems a turbo set-up is in my budget range. I did a lot of d16 turbo build research, so i have most of that basic parts needed down down. One site even had a list of guys running 7-12 psi on totally facorty internals. Theres a 1,000 and 1 kits on ebay so im gonna look for the best deal.
t3/t4 turbo
oil line kit
38mm wastegate
downpipe
stainless manifold
intercooler
bov
turbotimer
larger injectors?
sparkplugs?
hondata?(fuelmanagment)
can i keep my ecu?
as far as my engine compents go my car has been maintained well. I just did the throttlebody/intakemanifold gaskets, and the head gasket. The oil is changed consistantly and my ignition is up to par.
I was gonna leave the head factory and work the bottom end???
any ideas?

To be honest. . .you can actually keep the stock internals with the turbo set-up runing no more than like 8psi prof. tuned. . .but i wouldnt recomend buying an ebay set-up. . .there manifolds crack very easily. . .

I'd recommend rebuilding the bottom end! I just turbo'd my D16Y8 (about 6 psi with a Greddy kit) with proper tuning, etc. and toasted my crankshaft (too much compression causing detonation and pushing all the oil out of the bearings...not fun) I picked up Vitara pistons, H-beam rods, all new bearings for just over $600. I'm in the process of boring the cylinders 20 over right now...
best of luck with your build!

I don't see why people spend so much money on building the engine when you can have a good tune instead and make sure its reliable. I'd say just get the necessary elements for slapping a turbo kit together and get it tuned, and make sure you use head studs.

You can keep your stock internals. D-series internals are more reliable than most people think. Check this out. 400hp 26 psi yadi yadi yada. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2104408 AWD.

I second the headstuds though.

detonation isnt going to cause your bearings to go dry. you had other issues.

Stock everything with about 130k on the clock, my buddy's making 223whp witha stock greddy kit on his Y8. A good tune will get you there. He's been at 212+ for over 30k miles.
