Some Basic questions about turbos..
I'm fairly new to the turbo world, and want to get an Fmax setup for summertime. Now I'm just a little stumped about the whole turbo size thing.. What do all the numbers and letters stand for (i.e. T3/T4.....T-25...14b Td05h...etc.) ? What can i learn about the turbo from those numbers?
Did anyone here cut the cost of boosting, by putting a kit together them selves?
For instance, like, buying a the Fmax turbo manifold, then like gettinga turbo from somewhere else like ebay , and then having someplace make a custom downpipe, then buying a seperate intercooler to fit, buying a hondata (which i tried to figure out from their site , but having a little trouble with that as well), etc... ?
maybe $2500 to $3000 compared to almost $4000??
What does everyone think? Or am i asking for it buy trying to dive into the deep end of the pool with out knowing how to swim... hahah

Hey, its a fellow cheese head!
1. Just read everything on this forum for about 4 months, and you will begin to understand the numbers, hondata, and other things.
2. Make sure you do a search, and look up blueshadow. He is in a good post about how to size a turbo for your car.
3. Go to a bookstore and get Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. That book is the poo poo, you can learn almost everything you need to know there.
A custom kit could be cheaper, but more of a pain. I just bought a drag kit, and am going with hondata as well. I am pretty **** about my setup so it looks like it is going to cost me around $6000+ to start.
