Default Black Smoke

Me and my dad went to go check out a 95 civic EX today and when I rev the hell out of it and my dad puts his hand behind the muffler he says oil comes out with some black smoke, but when we were driving it we didn't notice any smoke. Is this a big deal to fix?

black smoke is usually gas.. from running rich.... blue smoke is oil... and white smoke is coolant... and steam is water from condensation in the exhaust....

Ya it could be rich as hell. but it also could be that the person never got on the car.

ever notice that people with nice cars when your trying to push them and they get on it and black smelly smoke comes out

So is this a big deal? I always heard you shouldn't buy a car that has smoke coming out of the exhaust.

The guy said, "It's nothing, It's nothing don't worry 'bout it", but I don't want to trust a used car salesman.

The guy said if it started leaking oil in the next 2 months he would fix it , but thats it as far as a warranty goes.
