Well it's hard to E-fix a car with the only information saying "it blows black smoke".
BLACK smoke means it's running very very rich. So start from there.
Are you sure it's black smoke?
Grayish white means either rich mixture, or burning oil slightly.
Blue means burning oil moderately to extensively
White means burning coolant
They all look pretty similar (except for straight up black smoke), but the smells and the intensity of the smoke/color tells the story. You kinda have to know what to look for.
Do you have a Check engine light on? If so, what is the code?
Try taking it somewhere if you can't figure it out.

Yeah they only check codes for 96+ vehicles. It's a lot easier.
There's ways to flash the code yourself. I think padawan gave you that link. You have to find out what the code(s) are for, and then go from there. Your car can sometimes tell you what's wrong with it. You just have to figure out what caused it.
Fix the cause, not the effect.

hey man its very easy to check the codes on your own heres how to do it:
behind the glove box (near the ecu) there is a green 2 pin connector. If it hasnt ever been messed with it will have a filler plug, remove the filler plug and use a paper clip or piece of wire and jump it across the two pins. The cel light will begin blinking and you have to count the number of blinks. Reading the blinks can be tricky for example: if the cel blinks twice and then there is a short pause and it blinks once that is a 21, if it blinks 3 times and pauses briefyly and blinks 6 times it a 36, and so on, single digit codes will blink that many times without pause. You can then goto the haynes repair manual and look up the code. The way you described the symptoms it sounds like a map sensor, or a busted injector.
